Amy Jo has been a nurse for 30 years and has experience in pediatrics, adult and pediatric critical care and trauma, nursing administration, case management, and pediatric and adult oncology. She has served as adjunct faculty to Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences. Amy Jo received her undergraduate degree from Bloomsburg University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. Amy Jo is currently a certified oncology nurse and a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators. Amy Jo speaks on cancer-related topics to community and support groups; from awareness lectures to “reclaiming intimacy after treatment” seminars. She has presented educational sessions on establishing Nurse Navigation programs to organizations such as Pennsylvania Cancer Control Consortium. In her current role as an oncology nurse navigator, Amy Jo serves as a liaison between the multi-disciplinary team and those affected by cancer; enhancing communication and coordination of oncology services for those facing their personal journey through the mayhem of cancer. Receiving a cancer diagnosis is overwhelming, regardless of the type of cancer or the stage, but by having someone lead you through the disease trajectory one step at a time, patients and families are better equipped to face their disease head on—physically, emotionally, and spiritually
