Grace Omulogoli (BSC HSM, HDIP CHN, KRN, KRM) recently retired from a 33-year career history with Kenyatta National Hospital. Most recently, she served as Assistant Chief Nurse of Specialized Medical Services where she was responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling all nursing services related to the care of cancer, renal, cardiology, and critical care patients. This involved ensuring quality in service delivery, adequate staffing, resource availability, and ensuring competency of the staff, and the evaluation of services. Prior to this role, she worked in other departments (Accidents and Emergency, Surgery, Medicine, and Orthopedic departments) in the capacity of departmental head, ward in charge nurse, and by providing direct care to patients. Before joining KNH, she worked for two years in the remote northeastern part of Kenya providing inpatient care and mobile care to underserved populations.


Grace has been a trainer of trainers for the International Council of Nurses (ICN) in the leadership for change program and has trained nurse leaders for over five years. She is a Lead Quality Auditor, ensuring the provision of quality services through setting, use of, and evaluation of standards. She also played a role on the team implementing the HMIS project to computerize hospital processes. Grace chaired the Cancer Care Committee that resulted in the uptake of patient navigation at KNH. She currently is contracted by the American Cancer Society as a consultant helping to shape the expansion of the Patient Navigation program and transition into new leadership.
