Dr. Haydee Kapin, DNP APRN-BC AOCN® completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at University of Far Eastern in Manila, Philippines. While employed at University of Miami, Florida, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) & Post Master Nurse Practitioner Certificate. In 2009, she was in the first class who completed Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) also, at University of Miami School of Nursing & Health Sciences. She has extensive managerial & clinical experiences at University of Miami over a period of 33 years. These include nurse manager of 40 bed Inpatient Acute Care Oncology Unit & Director of the Nurse Practitioner Program. Although, she held managerial responsibility – she remained a clinical APRN in the INPATIENT acute care medical oncology unit. As a clinician she worked with 32 full time collaborating Medical Oncologists. She also maintained an active role in research, and education, including DNP student preceptorships. She eventually transferred to OUTPATIENT department where she was a sole APRN for a 50 chair Comprehensive Infusion Center. She was a dedicated genitourinary APRN on her last 9 years at UM Sylvester, working with one collaborating medical oncologist. In this role, she run her own clinic and managed very complex GU cases, of which 70% are patients who are diagnosed with prostate cancer. She is a very passionate clinician and educator and is a national and international speaker in multiple GU and cancer related issues. She is past president of her local Oncology Nursing Society Chapter and maintains active roles in community advanced practice. Recently, she retired from University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and is actively pursuing other clinical and academic interests.
