Jennifer L. McEachin BSN, RN

Nurse Navigator & Lung Nodule Coordinator, Fauquier Health

Jennifer McEachin, BSN, RN currently works as the nurse navigator and lung nodule coordinator at Fauquier Health. Starting her nursing career in 1996, Jennifer has spent most of her career working in an acute care community hospital setting on a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). During that time, she was a member of Shared Governance (Education/Professional Development and Research Councils), led many initiatives (CHF, PNA, CP, AMI, and RCA), earned a specialty certification as a Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN), and advanced into leadership as a Clinical Unit Leader. Jennifer has been involved on three design and implementation teams for new units, a new hospital, and a new outpatient cancer center. In 2015, Jennifer graduated Cum Laude from Liberty University, where she received her BSN degree. In 2019, she received the Planetree Scholar Award for her focus on patient-centered care and her approach to enhance patient experience – humanized, personalized, and demystified. In 2020 she was nominated for Fauquier Health’s annual Mercy Award. The Mercy Award is given to one employee from the hospital who exemplifies the spirit and values upon which the company was founded. This award is the highest accolade an employee can receive. It recognizes individuals who: consistently go above and beyond the call of duty; demonstrate a level of commitment and caring that transcends the everyday; respect others in everything they do; and inspire others with their compassion, dedication and merciful spirit.
In Jennifer’s current role, she is a multi-cancer site navigator with the added responsibility of running the low-dose CT lung screening program ensuring follow-up for screenings and incidental findings. The leading cancer sites at her program include prostate, bladder, breast, lung, and colon. She is active with guiding her program’s compliance with the Commission on Cancer standards and ensuring policy changes as needed. Jennifer plays an active role in the Cancer Committee, Multidisciplinary Cancer Care Case Conference, and assists with finding clinical research trials for patients, survivorship program coordination, and tracks data on genetic counseling as well as psychosocial distress screening measures and needed interventions. Without a financial navigator, Jen and her partner at the physician practice secured close to one million dollars in pharmaceutical savings for their patients over the past two years. She is the facilitator and often the presenter for two support groups – CREW (general cancer) and Blue CREW (prostate cancer). Jen is the organizer, of what she hopes to be an annual event, the cancer survivor holiday dinner where cancer patients and survivors are honored. She is active with the Virginia Cancer Patient Navigator Network (VaCPNN), and more recently, a member of the Steering Committee. She presented to VaCPNN on The Challenges of Rural Navigation in Light of COVID-19.
Jennifer is committed to caring for her community where she holds several volunteer positions. She has held leadership positions on the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Fauquier County team for the past two years. Jennifer serves as secretary on the board for the Fauquier Sports Foundation, Inc, a non-profit organization that supports youth and high school wrestling. She is also a Faith Community Nurse and assists with Religious Education at her church. Considering virtual learning, she is now an AP Physics tutor for her high school senior.
