Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Rural Palliative Care Program, Outreach Specialist, UND Center for Rural Health

Nancy Joyner is a nationally recognized consultant, speaker, educator, and author. She is a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist and the outreach specialist for North Dakota’s palliative care through UND’s Center for Rural Health. Nancy has gained extensive experience in serious illness, frailty, and end of life, gaining over 40 years of nursing proficiency including 15 years as an advanced practice nurse in palliative care. Nancy is an ambassador for the Serious Illness Community of Practice at Ariadne Labs. She is a nationally trained POLST trainer who has written and published on the topic of advance care planning & POLST. Nancy is currently president of Honoring Choices® North Dakota, and North Dakota’s POLST Program Coordinator. She is on the Education Committee of the National POLST Plenary Assembly. She has a BA degree in pre-medicine from Bemidji State University, and her BSN and MS in nursing from the University of North Dakota.
