Tania Santos, BSN, RN, OCN, CBPN-IC, has been a registered nurse for 10 years, eight of them at the Step-down Oncology unit at Baptist Hospital of Miami. She became an oncology certified nurse out of her love for caring for cancer patients and their families. Prior to becoming a registered nurse, Ms. Santos earned a B.S. in psychology, which turned out to be a perfect fit when she became an oncology nurse. She is experienced in caring for cancer patients during acute phases of diagnosis and treatment, including pre- and postsurgical care, chemotherapy administration and management of complications as well as radiation-related side effects. One of Ms. Santos’ passions as a registered nurse is to empower her patients through knowledge and education. Her goal is to provide care with compassion and purpose through all phases of the cancer journey. Ms. Santos joined Baptist Health Breast Center in December 2012 as Clinical CareCoach/Navigation Coordinator. Her goal is to ensure that the program offers individualized assistance to patients, families, consulting physicians and other disciplines to help overcome healthcare system barriers. She helps facilitate timely access to quality medical and psychosocial care from pre-diagnosis through all phases of the breast care experience. Ms. Santos recently earned her certification in patient navigation with the Association of Oncology Nurse Navigators.
